Manuel obtained the MAMP Master (2017) and the Master of Arts in Spezialisierter Musikalischer Performance under the supervision of the professors Alfred Zimmerlin and Fred Frith (2019) at Hochschulle für Musik Basel. Also, he has studied Jazz under the supervision of Lester Menezes at the Jazzcampus Basel.
Manuel counts with a big curiosity and have studied also Indian music (Klassische Indische Nordinien Musik, Indische Musik: Modal improvisation) having group and individual lessons with Ken Zuckerman and Masterclasses with Swapan Chaudhuri. He attended the course of The Aesthetics of Jazz and Contemporary Jazz Composition at the Jazzschulle für Musik Basel. And received lessons of chamber music with Anton Kernjak. Later in Madrid he studied flamenco at the Pedro Ojesto school.
Manuel has toured Europe and Asia, playing at Shanghai Concert Hall, International Festival Shenzhen and Goungzhou in China, Kirsten Kiaers Museum and Copenhagen Konzertkirkchen in Denmark, Klang Basel, ZeitRäume, Attaca and Mimiko Festival in Switzerland, Fernando Fernan Gomez, Auditorio Nacional , Sala Berlanga, Clamores, Bogui Jazz, Galileo Galilei, Madrid Jazz Festival, etc, playing programs that include his own compositions, classical music, contemporary music, jazz and free improvisation. Manuel spreaded Spanish authors through the world and have shared stage with musicians such as George Lewis, Kirk Macdonald, Fred Frith, the Big Band of Bobby Martinez, among others…
He is a founding member of Anlauf Dúo with the support of Acción Cultural Española, and has been selected by “AIE en ruta” Spain (2017/2018) playing in many different great halls from Spain.
Manuel premiered his work ¨Rojo sobre Naranja¨ on National Radio of Spain (RNE3) and made the music for the movie ¨ Wait for me until winter is over¨ of Marco Barada.
He participated in the tribute to Joaquín Rodrigo, “imagined music” with Joaquín’s family at the Sala Berlanga and at the CAM Red de Teatros Festival.
Manuel also recorded in ¨Pequejazz, the history of jazz for children¨ collection of jazz album-books, Yevhen Project together with Chema Saiz and José San Martin, and participated in differents projects from collegues from the music world, recording between Switzerland and Spain. etc…
He has a jazz album We Need The Earth, Youkali Music playing his own music with Juanma Barroso, Maikel Vistel, Toño de Miguel and Carmen Lancho. He has a contemporary improvisation album called Get Out Of Your Way with the drummer and percussionist Jordi Pallarés Barbera and he belongs to Is this Always Like This? collective, they just made an album called Live in Mürbacherstrasse 48.
He has won national piano competitions such as the XIV Rio Orbigo Contest and XXV Jacinto Guerrero Contest and has been awarded at the Hazen Prize.
He has also received a scholarship from the Hochschulle für Musik Basel, the Thorens Foundation (Switzerland), the AIE (Society of Interpreters or Executives), Sgae Foundation and the Community of Madrid.
